Opportunity: Expanding Engineering Firm was referred to me to assist in hiring its first in-house counsel. Firm had experienced excessive legal fees from outside counsel. I recruited various qualified candidates and networked with other recruiters to locate an assistant general counsel at a major Houston company which had characteristics similar to my client including employee issues and intense growth due to recent acquisitions. Facilitated negotiations leading to beneficial closing for both sides.

Opportunity: Client was seeking to fill a position, vacant for over 1 year, for a very specialized associate attorney. Client had been forced to turn away business. I recruited a junior attorney who resided close to the firm and had the needed hands-on experience and expertise. Also, introduced the firm to a well-regarded partner-level attorney who could generate clients as well as handle overflow business and trial work.

Result: Both candidates were hired and law firm continued its impressive growth pattern. My employer was asked to and did assist this firm in its temporary, paralegal, and secretarial hiring needs.

Led law school recruitment task force for major law firm

Opportunity: Law firm sought to increase the number and quality of associate hires from my alma mater law school. As an associate attorney, I was selected to head this effort. Although firm had partner-level attorneys from this top-tier law school, new attorney hires had significantly decreased. I recommended using available budget to increase on-campus interviewing and to raise law firm’s exposure on campus through the development of an on-campus annual reception for impressive law students and an annual award for writing excellence bearing the law firm’s name.
